According to Forbes (2020), Human Trafficking is the 2nd most profitable criminal activity (after illegal weaponry/arms dealing) and generates about 150 billion $ per year. The statistics of these crimes are so far rising over the years. They should be decreasing instead.
In order to combat this criminal industry, businesses must take initiative and actions of prevention and detection in their own work. It is important to be able to recognize these situations, know how/when to report them, how to help potential victims and how to prevent it from occurring in your business or community. These crimes can happen anywhere, to anyone- so it is important to put an end or prevent them where possible. Doing nothing is like signing up on the criminal side. It is important to take a stand for what is right and not sweep this important topic under the rug.
